7 Right Ways to Clean your Epoxy Garage Floor

IMG959912.jpgThe beauty of an epoxy floor is meant to last for decades. However, the resistance of your Orlando garage floor is more remarkable with the correct maintenance. Learn how you can increase the durability of your epoxy floor with a few methods Garage Design Works has found to be extremely helpful.

  • For liquid spills, including most automotive fluids, use a soft cloth or paper towel.
  • A blue dust mop is a great investment for regular maintenance. If you don’t have a blue dust mop, a bristle broom works almost as effectively.
  • Stains and heavy soil should be swept away before the remainder of the debris is cleaned with a mixture of ammonia and water.
  • Rust from the base of cabinets or old caster wheels can be scrubbed away with hot water and a soft cloth. If the stain remains, scrub the area with a soft kitchen scrub pad.
  • For widespread tire and footprints, use a garden hose to spray the entire floor, then use a mop or squeegee to soak up the remaining water.
  • Refrain from using soap, citrus, and vinegar since they may damage your floor’s surface. Soap may also destroy your epoxy floor’s shine and cause it to be slippery every time it is re-wet.
  • Floor jacks need a cushion, such as a square sheet of plywood or a non-skid pad (a mouse pad works wonderfully) to keep the sharp edges and added weight from marring the epoxy surface.

With a simple, short-range plan – such as sweeping after heavy use – and long-range maintenance including mopping, removing all floor items, and checking for signs of rust or surface stains, your Orlando garage floor should last for years to come.
