Are You Taking Care of Your Garage?

You may not realize it, but you could be guilty of garage floor abuse. Many factors can contribute to the destruction of your Orlando garage floor. Find out how you may unknowingly be ruining it and how to take care of your garage!

Car Parking
Your car accumulates stones, sand, grit, and other hard debris in its tire treads, and then you park it in your garage. Constantly backing in and out of your garage with gritty tires can be abrasive to your cement floor, which causes it to wear away. Eventually, you’ll start to see the underlying pebbles from the cement and your floor becomes more porous.

Pressure Washing
Concrete, which is a mixture of sand, cement, and aggregate, is prone to stains and dirt. Believe it or not, pressure washing your garage’s cement floor can actually do the opposite of good. Whenever you pressure wash, your floor just becomes dirtier and that is much harder to clean. Plus, a likely side effect includes getting water in the walls. This is some of the worst damage that can happen to a home. Pressure washers release water at such high PSIs that they can blast through solid wood and even concrete. This water can shoot up into the wood frames of the garage and under the siding, soaking up all of the insulation, wiring, flooring, and more. And as we know, once water hits those areas, it will be difficult to evaporate and will turn into mold or crumbles.

Floor Stamping
Stamped concrete is patterned, textured, or embossed to resemble tile, brick, slate, wood, and more. Concrete stamping leaves a textured pattern or design on the floor that can’t handle your car driving over it. The sealant covering stamped concrete will not protect it from staining or damage.

PVC Floor Tiles or Mats
After installing PVC floor tiles or mats, moisture and debris can accumulate underneath, causing mold, bad odors, and decay. Many homeowners usually end up removing them and find their cement floor looks even worse.

Epoxy Flooring
So how do you stop cement garage floor abuse? Ditch the pressure washing cement floors; we recommend installing a high-quality floor system that gives your floor a finished look that is easy to clean, durable, and abrasion-resistant. But skip the cheap DIY epoxy floor coating kit that doesn’t allow for proper preparation for your floor before application; it won’t last because it doesn’t have the right amount of adhesive properties to bond to your cement floor. It will eventually lift and peel, especially when you drive your hot tires over it. Instead, use ArmorSeal garage epoxy, the strongest product that can handle the heat, humidity, and traffic. Using ArmorSeal along with a professional application process means you won’t have to worry about abusing your floors anymore! Plus, it comes with a limited lifetime warranty. No stress, no worry.
